Consultation With Cosmetic Surgeon
To take the first step toward a more attractive chin with KYBELLA® you will need to consult with Dr. Ereso and Nurse Iwona. During your consultation, they will evaluate your lower face and neck, noting the amount of submental fullness. Dr. Ereso will determine whether your skin is firm and elastic enough to contract over your smaller chin. If not, he will suggest other options, such as neck lift, to achieve the lean, elegant contours you desire.
Dr. Ereso and Nurse Iwona will also take your complete medical history. Be prepared to answer questions about any past or current health problems, specifically any bleeding disorders or problems that affect your swallowing. Dr. Ereso and Nurse Iwona will also inquire about any medications, vitamins and supplements you currently take to check for anything that could thin your blood.
Preparation For KYBELLA® Treatment
Double chin treatment does not require much special preparation. When scheduling your appointment, try to avoid having your injections right before any big event, in case you experience bruising or swelling.
For a few days prior to your appointment, refrain from taking ibuprofen and other blood-thinning medications. Dr. Ereso or Nurse Iwona can provide a list of safer alternatives if you need them.
On the day of your treatment, wash your face thoroughly and avoid applying creams or serums to your chin and neck. If you have any last-minute questions, do not hesitate to ask us – we want you to feel completely prepared for your appointment!
KYBELLA® Treatment Details
KYBELLA® treatments are performed in-office and can be customized based on the patient’s specific needs and cosmetic goals. During the procedure, the KYBELLA® solution is carefully administered via injections into targeted fat underneath the chin. The entire treatment session takes about 15-20 minutes to complete, depending on how many injections are needed. KYBELLA® treatments spaced 6 weeks apart may be required to achieve optimal outcomes, though retreatment is not typically expected once desired results have been attained. Good results are obtained frequently with two treatment sessions.
KYBELLA® Recovery & Results
Following treatment with KYBELLA® minor bruising and/or swelling may occur, but these side effects often resolve over the course of a few days (sometimes up to a week). Mild discomfort in the targeted area may also be present; however, this side-effect can generally be managed with over-the-counter pain medication, if necessary. Overall, most patients are able to resume their normal daily routines within just a few days of treatment. We have been very pleased with the minimal downtime and good results that patients have been achieving, although our sample size is still small.
Risks & Safety Of Double Chin Treatment
KYBELLA® is considered a safe procedure when performed by an experienced provider who takes the appropriate safety precautions. But as with any cosmetic treatment, there are always risks.
Adverse reactions to KYBELLA® are extremely rare. They include problems at the injection site (e.g., ulcers, hair loss, tissue death, nerve injury, or trouble swallowing).
If you are worried about the safety of double chin treatment, Dr. Ereso and Nurse Iwona encourages you to contact them prior to your appointment so they can discuss your concerns with you.
